Beech hedge damaging lawn

    I would try to stop your neighbout tramping on it first of all, but unless it is very long I would wait. When you give it its first cut it will bush up and thinken, its a shame the fence could not have waited.

    I'd wait until the fence is up to cut it; cutting is fairly traumatic as it is for a lawn, so doing this while fence builders are tramping all over it will not do it any favours.

    Fence is now up and painted, so will cut grass when weather allows. There are much larger bald patches now than before, also I've noticed a fine green plastic mesh which has been exposed. I presume that this is embedded into the turf that we laid last year.

    yes the the mesh is put in as the turf is sown to stabalise the soil ..... it suggests you ve lost some of the surface soil though.
