My lawn has a problem with weeds and is looking a little tatty after its first mow.

Can anyone give any suggestions and what feed and weed product should I use that is not dangerous to animals - I have a cat.

    Thanks

    Simon

Scarifying is always a good idea at this time, to get rid of moss and thatch (dead stuff in your grass) - then if you have the time and energy, and the garden's not too big, prick holes in it with a bordeer fork, or a hollow-tined thing (don't know if it has a technical name??), and brush in sand, or top-dressing, which you can get pre-mixed in garden centres, and prob B+Q. That really helps condition it. If you dig out the perennial weeds, if any, like dandelions - with big tap roots, and sprinkle with something like Feed and Weed, according to the instructions (don't be temoted to use more than they say, it doesn't do any good!) Then you can re-seed patches, like the holes where weeds were, or ones that are a bit bare, and follow insructions on the grass seed box. That should do the trick. Good luck. You'll be in need of plenty of cups of tea and chocolate biscuits during it, tho' so make sure you've got someone ready to do that for you! ;)
