Windy bamboo

Not sure if I am doing this right as not very good on the PC but need to know if my bamboo plants which have been scorched by the gales recently will need to be cut down or if they might recover? Any ideas for the best course of action? Your suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Hi Daisylily, and welcome. I would agree with WOO,leave them be for now. Wait for the new colms to emerge before cutting anything. The scorched leaves mey look unsightly but they are going to give protection to any new growth.

 

Hi Wisoldowl and Daitheplant thanks so much for the advice. I usually grow perennials and cottage garden plants so Bamboo are new to me I am trying to cover the fence as much as poss. I have planted 5 different climbers so hopefully they will do the trick in time. New house again so no plants at all front or back but in my last house I had the same problem and it was great designing and planting but I am too impatient and want it to look lovely now! There are new shoots coming up on the bamboo so it's just a case of patience, patience. Thanks again. This is a great website. It's my first try at this sort of thing.
