I've been given an ear of corn for the seeds. I want to grow some for decorative purposes.
How deep do I need to sow the seeds?

    Thank you

    Amanda

Hi Amanda I just wanted to say 'hello' as I haven't 'see' you before lol. :D

I should imagine a couple of inches should do the trick but I couldn't say for sure.Maybe trail and error is the way to go?

Someone with far better knowledge will surely come along and help you out. [IMG] Hel.xxx.

    Hi there

Thanks for the reply. I posted a bit the Summer before last, but was too busy with a new baby to post much last Summer so should probably reintroduce myself. Will do so soon

    Thanks again

    Amanda

I hedged my bets and planted some an inch into the soil and some just below it. Sorry I realised after I posted that they are called corn grains not corn seeds. Doh!

Amanda having a little one can be so time consuming but also an absolute joy and it's true what people say they do grow up very quickly ..... one minute they are tiny tots and the next they are towering over their old mum! :D

Hopefully your little one will be able to help mummy out in the garden and maybe make her a couple of mud pies along the way. Enjoy! Hel.xx.

    Hi there Helofadigger

I managed to get outside yesterday with both girls (aged 3 and 13 months.) I put the 13 mth old in a travel cot with some toys and the older one pottered around. Managed to get quite a bit of pruning done and the 3 year old watered the calendular and corn flower seeds that she and i planted at the weekend, she also scattered some plant food granules and even dug up a weed for me!

Hi Amanda it's always nice to encourage little'uns to enjoy the garden with you and although they can get really messy at times they do seem to enjoy it so.

My little four year old niece loves helping me out in our garden sadly she hasn't a garden at home just a back yard and her mum isn't into growing plants at all. Holly (the 4 year old) is a little devil she can even mow the lawn but one of her favourite things she likes to do is getting soaked by her uncle Bob with the hose in summer!

Maybe you can give a little plot to your 3 year old and encourage her to grow some plants or flowers in it. I'm sure she would love that and even more so if mummy buys her some child sized tools.Hel.xxx.
