    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums, and to gardening. We have just renovated the inside of our house, and have now started on the garden (which is proving a lot more fun and interesting than the inside was).
The front garden is more or less done, and because that is being/will be planted from scratch I know exactly what is going in there. The back garden however is a different story, it is a stip of long, narrow, poor condition grass with a couple of shrubs, a lovely greengage tree and a rose. Although we are planning on changing the garden significantly (digging up and moving/replacing the path, creating beds, a veg patch etc, one thing we do want to try and keep is the rose (and the tree).

However, I know next to nothing about plants, and that includes roses. I don't know what the rose(s) are, nor when to prune them. I was hoping that someone on here could enlighten me. We don't want to do much to them, but just neaten them up really. I have attached some pictures of them from last summer. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
