veg plot failure

    help I tried hard to have a couple of raised beds this year. I dug over some lawn removing all grass.added compost and organic chicken pellets.then put in french beans up a trellis fence set lettuce brocolli beetroot carrots chard spinach swede and sweetcorn all from plants raised in greenhouse.only got a good crop from lettuce everything else was very poor or complete failure I have had a wonderful display of cosmos all grown from seed seems I just can't do veg.

    I think, Rose, the problem is, you have tried growing everything in the same conditions. For instance, the beetroot, carrots and swede need to be sown straight in the ground, and they do not want manure ( chicken pellets ). With the rest, you should have had more success. The questions I have to ask is, how big were the plants when you put them out, what were the weather conditions like and how far apart did you space them? David.

    Many thanks for advice.I was trying to avoid slugs gobbling up everything as I am plagued by them here so I grew everything in the greenhouse first planted out late may I think and kept the slugs at bay with pellets.I followed the packets advice on planting distance. The beetroot never took off just disappeared .
    I thought everything would benefit from manure.
    I will have another go next spring planting straight in the ground with the root veg . rose
