My son asked me to help him choose a ground covering plant. One that is not taller than 2' good spread, flowers in spring/summer, possibly berries in winter, evergreen of course.
The area is about 50sq. metres, faces SE.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jaycee

Most of my neighbours seem to favour dandelions ;) [IMG] but as I like gravel I don't think I should be the one to advise you. :D

I'm old fashioned, but I still like heathers and prostrate conifers.

Agree with you, pete. Also what about some perennial Geraniums to fill in the gaps or even Hostas?

Thanks for the "comments:, but I think that a combination of C. Dammari and 'Wisley Pink' Helianthemum should provide the cover he is looking for.

    Hi there Jaycee,

Have you thought of maybe ground cover roses? You can get fragranced ones. The ones i have are named in the roses section. They would look good with a few Monet as well but hey what do i know :D It works for me.

;) Jaycee, why not have a look at Charlie's list here.

Seems pretty good mix of flowers & berries to be had. I have a Catoneaster in a corner hiding a cover. Very low growing. Looks lovely when flowering & the bees love them. Then in the winter the berries are there for the birds. I have Blackbirds & Thrushes come for the berries. Plus so easy to keep in shape & as big or as small as you like. You could inter-plant with Helianthemum for added colour. [IMG]
