I just thought today, I've achieved quite a lot this last few months - all by myself - on two huge beds which hubby thought would be nice but which up until about February laid empty. With a bit of transplanting here and there - which included a variagated elder, bamboo and various large shrubs which were getting crowded in elsewhere - plus some donated things from friends and loads of seeds - I've created the following. I spent today having to pull out quite a lot which had been flattened by wind and rain so there are some gaps, but all in all I don't think it looks too bad. I'm not bragging or anything, but considering I'm not the healthiest of geriatrics and often have times when I'm unable to do anything for several weeks, I thought that if I can do it, then anyone can. I hope you don't mind me sharing my photos with you which I took today - not a lot of sunshine I'm afraid..

The bed on the left is 2 years old - the new ones are on the right.

Can you spot the mutant Lavatera? Grown to twice the height it said on the packet !!

New bit on the left. The Rhus is donated but got bent in transit - hence the splint for the next year or so.

    First summer for the archway.

I have still loads to do and very little money to do it with - of course - but eventually I hope to have created a nice garden from what was orginally an overgrown field. Wish me luck ;)

Thats what I want, pathways where you can wander round the various beds and the archway is lovely.

My garden here isn't big enough but in Australia the cats used to follow me round the paths whilst I was watering with one hand and had a glass of wine in the other - v relaxing!

Extremely well done kryssy! It's so huge too, as cattwoman said, more like a park. How big is it? You have such a lovely view over the countryside from your garden too.

Lucky you to have all those wonderful stones - I am a big stone fan. Hubby and son used to get on at me for even bringing them home from off holiday!

Looking forward to seeing more and thanks for sharing.

Beautiful kryssy your hard work has paid off and that archway will look even more stunning in another year.
I'm sure we all wish to have a lovely big garden like yours although maybe not all the hard work that goes into achieving it!

Well done Mrs.Kryssy greenfingers,it's a credit to you...........It's an extravaganza of plants and good planting.
As Kedi implemented you seem to have brought the countryside into your garden with very good effect. [IMG]

Kryssy, that is so nice. I love all the curves. And I think your Lavatera is magnificant - there is something about height that impresses.

WOW! Thank you one and all for your lovely comments. Sorry to be late in responding ââ?¬â?? not been at home much this last couple of days.

I dont ever get praise for the work I have done, except from hubby, so at times I wonder if it is all really worth it. Our French neighbours just think I am mad as they dont go in for gardens as such here. They just have massive vegetable plots!

Iââ?¬â?¢m glad I took the photo of the mutant Lavatera the other day as this morning we had a terrible storm and they are now all flat ââ?¬â?? such a shame as they were starting to grow on me ââ?¬â?? oh, ââ?¬Ë?scuse the pun.

Our total garden is about an acre but that includes the side garden and house. I dont intend to turn it all into garden as that would be too much of an expense and Im not getting any younger so each year it will be harder to maintain. It takes me half a day to just cut the grass and this time of year I have to do that twice a week.

Iââ?¬â?¢ve found a couple of photos of how it was in the beginning. Just twitch and building materials left by the previous owner. Actually you cannot see the extent of the building materials really. We borrowed four sheep for a few months to eat their way down to some grass but they kept escaping to pastures new ââ?¬â?? they were no fools. The bounday is beyond the small fence to the 3 cone shaped conifers and the oak. Not to the hills unfortunately...... It is virtually the same view as picture 1 above...

Again, bless you all for the nice things you have said and I will take all of those comments and carry on with my creation with renewed enthusiasm. [IMG] [IMG] :D :D [IMG] [IMG]
