Runner Beans(Good Crop)

    When the beans have flowers on, mix a bit of sugar and water together to a syrup then dab it on the flowers ,the bees love it and will pollinate them.My elderly uncle gave me this tip.

    I had loads of loverly juicy red flowers, then overnight they all disappeard!! It was windy, but not THAT windy . Any ideas? they were doing so well. Do you think they will come back on the same axils, or will they start on the newest shoots only?

    Companion planting of flowers is the best way - in my opinion - to a bumper crop.

    the white flowers are the French runners.

    Mine got munched but it looks like the two survivor's (in a pot) are thinking about new leaves at the tip so I am still hopeful! There are two sweet peas in with them which are flourishing.
