I have a lovely crown chimney pot (like those in the opening sequence of Coronation Street) in my garden and want to know if I can grow Morning Glory to cascade over the edges? My pocket handkerchief garden faces due south and is a suntrap.

Also, is there such a thing as a perennial Morning Glory ~ or are they all annuals?

Hello, Orchid, and welcome to GC.

I had some old chimney pots when I lived in Bucks and they make wonderful containers for trailing plants.

I see no reason why you cannot put Morning Glory it your and perhaps pinch it out a bit to make it bushier.

I believe all Morning Glories are annuals in the UK ... they are perennial here! If you are in a very sheltered spot with no frost, perhaps yours could be perrenial! [IMG] But they are so easy to start from seed in the early Spring.

Good luck and look forward to seeing a picture in the summer!

Pete hasa morning glory that survives his winters, it is Ipomoea Indica.

I have a cutting [thanks again Pete] which has spent the winter in cool part of the greenhouse and is putting out little leaves- I do hope it flowers this year!
On the other hand they seem very easy to grow from seed, and grow very fast, so why worry? [IMG]
