echinaceas

    echinaceas i have them in pots but lost packet they are about six inches tall do i plant them out now or is it too late

    I would do so so that they can get settled before the winter, but you will need to keep them watered and protected from slubs and snails. Lovely plants, and very hardy

    I planted a whole packet last year and they all came through - they got planted out late last year. Result - I now have a veritable forest of E! I had no idea they grew so big and so tall! One lives and learns!

    so i assume they look like daisys then how tall do they grow and will they flower this or next year excuse me being dense thanks for help

    No problem - we were all newbies at one time! [​IMG]

    At the momentmine are about 30" tall and flowered in their second year.

    Another dumbo here!!!!! I though echinacea was something you got in the health food shop for colds. What does the flower look like???

    Thanks Fran, Lovely fowers for butterflies, don't know where I got the idea that it was bought in health food shops to cure colds.

    Echinacea is very good for colds, and is used in most natural cold and flu remedies. So your memory wasn't playing tricks on you [​IMG]

    Had an interesting experience yesterday afternoon - all the recent wind and rain had knocked over my crowd of Echs so I gathered them all up in my arms and encompassed them with string tied to a few canes.
    When I got indoors, I discovered my arms and neck were covered in a great big rash!
    Happily a good scrub with soap and water and a sit down disposed of the problem but it was a tad scary!
