I agree with you elainefiz, all the pictures are stunning and I'm fascinated with the Japanese Anenomes ... I don't know them at all!

The Arum lillies grow wild here in large clumps on the roadsides and bloom in the Spring.

One of my favourites is the Vallota speciosa, Scarborough Lily. Although called a Lily, they are fromt the Amaryllis family. I've had this clump since the mid 80s and it's the first time it's blooming here having been planted in 2001 ...

 

Japanese enemies LoL! at last I have found something to send to you, I h grow them like weeds here, though not sure how they will suit your sunny soils.

I have some BIG pink ones and plane white ones, but I have very neat little striped pink and white one which may just like you though she has not shown her face yet this year, neither have the rest but it is still very early for them.

 

It's not like my pink Evening Primrose nightmare is it? I just had the opportunity yesterday to get to my not-so-wonderful pink and orange vision of loveliness rockery for this summer to uproot the sodding things which have taken over everywhere. :eek:

Just planted a pink Pentas in there and discovered two Ganzanias hidden under the Tecomaria which I moved forward in the rockery. The Cercis has doubled in size since Spring so it will be wonderful this coming year.

Your orange poppies did not appear ... will they next year?

Yes the anenome has a running root stock, but the striped one will not be a problem.

I will send you some more poppy seed, mine have been flowering hard since april/may

How about this for orange though? the bee in the centre gives you an idea of size.

Apparently, one of its common names is "Scarborough Lily". No idea why.

Morning, Royster! I've made a note.

Although from South Africa, there was a connection in the late 1800s with Scarborough, England, apparently because it has naturalised there from 'shipwrecked' bulbs.

 

Just noticed these clematis growing from my balcony

 

Lovely colour, rosa, especially against the grey sky ... how's the Cobaea doing? Any signs of flower buds yet?

 

thanks LoL just took this pic about 8 tonight, couldnt get a close up frontal view of them being were they are positioned to the outer of my balcony as they grow to the light.
The Cobaea is growing fine 1 of them is nearly reached half way up my balcony its got itself caught in my hanging basket so i will just have to leave it. no flowers as yet and i have 14 growing now, 1 has just started to grow in a tb suspended from my arch at the kitchen window so iff that does well it will look great over the arch iff its happy with my vine. when they grow a little more will take pics.

 

Fourteen now? Wow! They suddenly shot up then ... beware, they will take you over, Sweetie!

 

incredible isnt it, gave my neighbours some down stairs, so iff theirs come up we shall have glorious flowers all over our balconies, dont know what the flowers look like as i cant tell from your pics.
iff i have lovely flowers it will be worth seeing them all over the balcony, I accidentally snapped one its just growing another leaf hasnt hurt it one little bit, all 13 are growing but this particular one is really taking off.

Echinocereus, most cacti have not flowered well this year, I suppose its been too dull most of the time.
