First off some garden pinks, I still have to find where I put the labels, hence no names yet.

Next some Sweet Williams, again no names, but these were in a "mixed" tray from Homebase.
I love the range of colours in S W s, some delicate whites abd pinks and others vibrant reds and near purples.

Please add your own dianthus pics, if you can add names to any of the above please let me know, via the thread or PM and I will edit them in.

Hi Bob, your first looks the same one as my #3, do you have a name for it or like me lost the labels.

    (posted by Marge earlier today)

Here are my clove-scented white pinks (without the green tinge today!)

    Bought these ones this morning

This mix seeded themselves out from last year.

Sorry I don't know the names of any of them, neither yours nor mine.

Yes - I have fiddled about with the brightness and contrast to see if it makes a difference - hue and sat can help a bit but Ive not been convinced of the results enough to keep them!! I have a red rose that comes out orange  :D
Would be great if you found that setting ;)

Marge, does your camera have any control over "white balance" it may be marked with things like "Tungsten" "Fluorescent" "Sunlight" or symbols to represent them? Sunlight obviously is for outdoors, Tungsten (symbol maybe a light bulb) and Fluorescent (a tube) are for that type of lighting indoors. It may also have an "auto" position.
Some cameras may have this setting buried in their menus.

Hi Bob, as a general rule, keep the camera on either Auto or Daylight for outdoor shots. The actual colour of the pic will to a certain extent depend on things like the brightness of the sun, reflections from other coloured surfaces and time of day, mornings and evenings the light is "warmer" in tone than at mid day when it is quite a harsh white tending more toward the blue end of the spectrum.
The other thing to watch in bright light is getting lighter coloured parts of the pic overexposed such that you lose detail in the bright parts.
One thing about digi cams is that it costs only our time to take 2 or 3 shots at different settings to find the right one for the conditions and the subject.

PS to above; smack your legs for putting Petunia shots among the dianthus topic. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Mike, I know this doesn't belong in this thread but I for one was glad to see the colour difference on the different settings. I have now copied this and other camera tips over into Word to help me if I get fouled up again.

Hi Bob, the leg smacking was very tongue in cheek, not intended to offend, this is one of the problems on forums, text can so easily come across entirely different from the same thing spoken.
Sincere apologies for any offence caused, and thanks for getting that name for me.
