I thought it might be a nice idea to make an A-Z Gallery of Climbing Plants.

Obviously it would be nicer if they were our own plants, but if push came to shove we could improvise with someone else's!

I'll start off with something I am attempting from seed but am using a photo courtesy of www.salisbury.edu as unfortunately Chiltern Seeds don't supply photos with their seeds.

Good idea LoL, I have a few, one of each kind or several, do you want them in order?
I know you have some but here's a Bougainvillea Buttiana. [IMG]

Lovely, Strongy ... haven't seen that one! I thought we could either do one of each letter and then start again at the end or add as many as you want within that letter. What do you think?

If it looks good, we can edit out or delete our "chatter" in between!

    Clematis rehderiana. My own plant

I was trying to give you something a bit different. I got seed of this from Ness Botanic Gardens on the Wirral. It has Napoleonic tendancies ie. it wants to take over the entire garden, but has a lovely honey scent and is a bee magnet

I guess as we already have ABC (A nice Clem Geoff H)we may as well carry on with D and go round again. We may not get one of every letter but we can try. [IMG]

There we are. Now this is one plant i wish I could collect the seed of. I managed it one year but...
    (a) the stems are so delicate they often break before the seed ripens.
    (b) it grows so fast it hides the ripening pods
BUT its a beaut and I would recommend it to anyone

Thanks I am trying to get viable seed off the clematis but they don't yet look ripe enough. Last year I could not find any but it self seeded between the slabs in the patio.
The original plant at Ness is a little thing on a Southerly facing wall. Mine is really rampant and every spring I have to cut it right back. One year when we came back after two weeks the patio furniture had disappeared under it.

Lucky you, Geoff, I'd love one of those but sadly don't have one. The only other E I know is Euonymus fortunei (the Wintercreeper) and I don't have one of those either! Go ahead, we can always come around again! :D

For F, I wish my photos of fremontodendrons had turned out better - too far away, so no point in posting it - anyone got a good one?

I think we should go back to E ....

... and when we get to F, dendro, can you find a photo of one on the net? I snitched a piece of one in B&Q on the IoW years ago and it never rooted .... ha, serves me right! :D

BM, put your lovely photos back up when we come to P (in the nicest possible way, that is!) ...
