Thanks folks. The garden is aout 3/4 of an acre and 11 years ago it was a field full of rubbish and weeds. Being retired we can spend as much time out there as the weather permits so the work is done by just the two of us. The cost to us has been no more than many people spend on foreign holidays and self entertainment things and now it keeps us in veg and fruit for most of the year. There are indeed hens wandering about (and a duck) and yes they do, do some dmage but they eat a lot of pests as well.

Fantastic garden Mr P. You must get a lot of pleasure out of it and it keeps you fit at the same time. Unfortunatley I still have to work for my living, my Husband refuses to keep me, the garden and the dogs so hey ho!!!
Looking forward to retiring so I can spend more time gardening (a few years off yet) so many people retired and are dead within a short time and never get to enjoy their retirement.
    Great Photos too.

I was unlucky/lucky to have to retire very early through illness. In terms of income continuing working would have been a lot better, but then we would not have moved here, so swings and roundabouts.

Here! here! strongylodon and a great inspiration to all us in retirement!

Palustris: My late father also had to retire early due to ill health at the time, went on to reach 99! Like you, he didn't do it by sitting about!

    :D What's your next project then? :D
