I am soooooo impressed, you must be chuffed to bits!!! So much hard work has gone into this garden!!! And I love the bird feeders - do you get many visitors??
Its all inspiration for me - we are getting someone in to do the hard landscaping,as its a HUGE job.... but to see the transformations is so encouraging.
On the sunny wall, I would smother it with climbers that will give a display all summer long, like a passion flower and clematises, honeysuckle, etc.... and dripping down from the pergola too.... with a tree fern for a bit of height..... ooohhh- the list is endless!!!! ;)

Lovely job Berry. Since you asked I think broad leaved bamboos look very good against a white wall. They do well in a container and are hardy. Pseudosasa japonica is my favourite. Very Tenko, if you watched that series. I have a photo somewhere, I'll dig it out.

Here is the photo. The Pseudosasa is behind the next best thing to a palm tree and against the white wall.

GREENWIZARD - I do tend to pick up little nik-naks like that. :D
Its nice to have some little things about to add extra interest.

Honey Bee - Its taken a while for the smaller birds to find the seed feeder, but in the last couple of weeks I have seen a greenfinch and a bluetit as well as plenty of sparrows!
The first regular visitors to the bird table were wood pidgeons and now a pair of turtle doves. Hopefully more will join them!

I have a passion flower that will help fill up the wall (with some gentle encouragement), and a honeysuckle wich I might move to the pergola.
Clematis are definately on the (ever expanding) list, (garden centre on wednesday ;) ).

Nik - That is a lovely bamboo. I have a smaller one (Fargesia? between the wisteria and palm in the pic), but a bit of height would be good. How tall does yours grow?

The latest pic, taken this afternoon -

At this rate I'll soon have no space for my deckchair!! :D

Pseudosasa Japonica grows to 6-7 feet tall. Sasa Japonica grows to about 4 feet tall.
