I've been tidying up my Bonsai today ...

It's deceiving, nothing is flowering at the moment and that's the Cyclamen on the the other side of the bamboo blind.

Top shelf, l-r, Portulacaria (c2004), Ginseng Ficus (Ficus Retusa) (c1995), Oleander (2007), Azalea (2004) and Ivy (c 1993) clambering over the remains of a Serissa Seroids I managed to kill off.

Bottom shelf, l-r, Sesbania punicea (2007), Jacaranda mimosifolia (2007) and Albizia julibrissen (2007).

On standby waiting for their root structure to develop are Olive, Pyracantha and Cotoneaster. I am debating whether to do the Delonix reginea and Bauhinia galpini ... decisions, decisions, decisions.

Thank you, Scotkat ... sorry, I somehow missed your post. I do enjoy my plants all but one done from scratch .... until today ....

and I treated myself to a new one .... a 10 year old Carmona microphyllia, the Scorpion Bush, which has tiny white flowers most of the year and then berries ....

I hmmmmd and haaaaad between three (gave up on the Acer as I've lost two of them here) and this was the only like this and there were two guys looking so I grabbed it quick and clung to it for dear life. :)

Shortly I will pot up a lovely Cotoneaster that Sarra sent me (well he sent four from his sister) and they have developed well over the winter and I have a mind to put the other three on the side of the house, laneside once the builders have finished.

We had a complete surprise this afternoon when I went to mist and water the Bonsai which live in our outdoor living room. My Azalea of several years which was initially outdoors and I then split up to do part Bonsai and part outside is blooming for the first time ....

You can see the size of the blooms in comparison to the tiny leaves, quite extraordinary. You can also see the plant above in November 2007.

For what it's worth, the outdoor one died.

I sent a picture of this to the Azalea Association and they cannot identify it and asked me if I could to let them know, it's quite striking I think.

:thumb: Oh, nice collection Vicky.. They all look so healthy & Happy..!!! Hard to acheive that look here at this time of the year.. Most of mine are just coming into leaf or just looking tired after the winter I think.. They have all perked up & look lovely by June here though..!!!! :lollol:

Thank you Adam ... and welcome to GC.

I don't know yours but looked it up and how lovely, a Chinese Sweet Plum with pink flowers. I have not seen it here but shall keep my eye open as we strangely have Bonsai centers here !!!

Marley, my pics were taken a year ago and the Azalea is nowhere near as advanced this year.

I sadly lost my Ivy last year (done from a snippet in 1993) and I was so upset I had to go out and 'comfort' myself with a new one .. a Buddhist Pine which I have had difficulty finding and which just happened to be there when I needed it ... fate or what?

Here it is and in the second picture flanked by the Scorpion Bush on the left and the Azalea on the right ... sorry for the poor light, just took the pics.

When we went up to 'my' castle in Palmela in January with Sis and Hubby and DAG and Mrs DAG, I pinched a bit of the Ivy growing on the castle wall at our bedroom window sill ... and it has rooted! So I shall now have one with special memories.

Thanks, Pal ... been missing you of late ... k-l

I struggle with them here in the dry heat but persevere and it is a daily attendance to them. When you think I had them for years in Bucks and then to'd and fro'd from the IoW to here for years with them ... am I mad, or am I mad? No, don't answer that ....

I am jealous of you and your Hawthorne ... whis4ey sent me one, a pink one, which I could not get going ... and I'm now sruggleing with doing Cotoneaster again ... I love both as Bonsai. I'd love another pink Hawthorne if someone out there would like to send me one .... :ntwrth:

:) Pal, my dear friend, just for you ... your lovely Hawthorne now thrice its size ... I'll get a better picture in a couple of months ... :luv:

And I am more than delighted that my Bonsai Bougainvillea trio which looked dead as a dodo over the winter looks like this now ...
