Anyone remember this one, I posted thinking it was a peace lilly to ask if it was dead and some people came back saying its a chinese evergreen and it looks dead?! Well here's the transformation...!

    From: 25/04/07

No flowers yet but I hope by this time next year I will have some! Its a really interesting plant, the leaves come up as a thin green shoot (you can see one in the middle of the last 2 pictures) and then unravell themselves to become these beautiful leaves. Once that one opens another shoot comes out of the casing that one came from straight away. I cant believe how fast its growing, the previous owner said it was a very slow growing plant! :D :D :D

It's doing really well for a dead'n. First rule of gardening is never give up, your patience has paid off. As it is an Aglaonema the flower/spathe is not that showy so I hope if it flowers winer/spring it doesn't dissappoint. [IMG]

looked up the plant on google, they like shade and are grown for their foliage, can be green like yours or have silver markings.

I have seen the mother plant which produces white flowers that look more like the brachts on a peace lilly. I haven't been talking directly to it helen but I do talk a lot so thats probably helping!!! I was told it likes shade but it seems to be very happy on the window sill so i'll keep it there for now! :D

Ola Andy ... I remember your first day ... you rushed off on your lunch break to the garden centre as you became so excited with our whitter and encouragement. [IMG]

You've done really well and we are all proud of you ... from another thread where you've been doing veggies plus all the Geraniums and the Hibiscus on the office windowsill.

You'll be a great gardener one day ... keep it up and keep us informed. [IMG]

Here I go again. Frogs, toads, slugs, peace lilies. Here's mine. Sorry about the markings on the leaves but you have to spray VERY regularly (with Growmore) if you want brachts.

I wonder why the mother plant produces brachts like on a peace lily? Anyone want a bet?

hehe thanks lady, you sure did get me hooked! My veggies have done pretty good, ended up growing them in a large pot but we are building a raised bed for them next weekend, as well as digging out a fruit patch. Just had some strawberry plants bought for me :D and my rasberry canes have grown like no mans business. My blueberry bush did great & they were so tasty, I shall be buying more for next year!

The geraniums are all flowering, the hibiscus is outside & is quite happy in a pot. My foxgloves, alyssum and aqueligias have all grown really well and are out in the garden. We've just built a raised yorkstone patio, pics to come later! Looking back on when I first started I've done quite a bit, and im loving it! :D

oh and thanks for the link marley thats great! [IMG]

It is a resillient plant and well done, your TLC has paid of .
I don't think the spathes(flowers) have a scent as the Spathiphyllums (Peace Lilys) do.
