I feed mine only once in the summer, and it does fine cos they live in gritty sandy soil so don't get much food anyway in the wild.

I'd use a drop of baby bio if its in the house. I use that for all my house plants.

Hi, tricia, and welcome to GC, as I don't think we've met. [IMG]

I have a wonderful plant brought over from the Isle of Wight in 2001. It was in a pot on a verandah there and now lives in red clay in a rockery here ... it has never had a doce of fertiliser in it's life.

I'll try to remember to take a pic of it tomorrow for you ... it's blooming! [IMG]

    Enjoy the forum.

PS Sis, yours looks more multi-coloured than mine????

It's only green and white. Now that I think of it, it is not an Aloe Vera after all but a Banded Aloe / Pheasent Aloe ??? Or not??

HELP! what is the proper name please?

I've one of those too it's called Aloe Variegata or pheasent aloe, I've also got Aloe Aristata (hardy aloe) and Aloe Striatula. I have a few different Agaves too.

Hi, tricia ... sorry, I've been a bit busy of late and completely forgot about taking a photo ... But many apologies ... I have made a large note to myself. :D

Mine started off at about six inches also ... so have patience and faith ... all good things come to those who wait ... says she, tongue in cheek!

I'll try to get back to you by the weekend. [IMG]

Here I am at last with a picture of my Aloe Vera flowering ... you can just see the tall bloom stem which has two flower heads, the tallest one at 165cm almost into the Oleander ...

Sorry, they are a bit lost in the "background" so here's a closer shot of one of the stems ...

That's fab, and how tall it is! Is it the first time that it has bloomed?

Thanks, Sis .. it's 165cm tall and no it's bloomed for three/four years now. This was the diddy I brought from the IoW from Margaret. [IMG]

Funny thing, although it's rock bound, I have no offshoots.
