This one had no flowers so cost me £1.50, and I didn't know what to expect. It had a label which helpfully told me it is a "Mixed two spike".

Now it has flowered I can see it is a Miltonia and probably Confusa hybrid.

The colours remind me of a pantomime dame's dress.

    Thats great Rich.
Orchids really are one of the best buys from the discount area of the garden centres, I dont think there is such a thing as a BAD orchid, and with a bit of decent care most bounce back and flower well.
I very rarely buy them at full price and in flower. :D [IMG]

Nice one, Rich! Yes - I grab them when they are offered at knock down prices. They look so sad and shrivelled, but they always come back in to flower at the right time. People are brain washed into wanting instant satisfaction.

I worked in a gardencentre in Battersea over ten years ago and they would want me to throw away whatever looked less than in perfect shape...I was feeling so bad everytime!
