Hi i have a issue with a apple tree, most of the branches are dead and are covered with a yellowish lichen, the problem goes from the trunk to the high branches of the tree which is small at 8-9ft. the problem is the fruit tree beside the symptom tree is starting to do the same thing and so is there anything i can do to save the second tree with milder symptoms.

    regards

    Hi pgs,

Lichen is an epiphyte, meaning that it survives by growing on another surface. It's not parasitic so does not harm the tree it's growing on. Whatever your tree is suffering from it's not lichen and your second tree is neither at risk from it.
