Great days out

wouldnt it be good to post info on days out to events etc? maybe people on here would get the chance to meet

 

I can heartily recomend the National Amature Gardening Show at Shepton Mallet if you@re down this way in September turl.I'd certainly like to read write ups of gardens people have visited the yellow book doesn't have a lot of space for each garden and doesn't always say which is the best time of year to go if it's open all year.Westonbirt arbouretum is famous for it's autumnal acers but it's spring azaleas are just as worth visiting.

 

For anyone in West Wales, the local HPS group meets in Newcastle Emlyn. They have an Annual Plant Fair with at least 10 specialist plant nurseries. This year its Sunday 24 April 10-4 at Rhos-y-Gilwen Mansion, Rhos Hill, nr Cardigan. Restored Gardens, Arboretum, Victorian Glasshouse all open.

 

Chatsworth House and Garden is open again now- they do tours of the garden with one of the gardeners on selected days that are great and also the gardens are well worth a visit. There is a 2 for 1 ticket in Gardeners World this month.

 

If anyone is visiting the Channel Islands this summer, I can highly recommend the beautiful walled gardens of the Signeurie in the small island of Sark.
