What a blast from the past Ziggy :luv:
In another world I was the nurse in charge of an intensive care unit:roll:
It was hard going, but we organised music while you work.
Our tastes in music were pretty catholic - but The Doors were universally popular.
    Oh Happy Days :gnthb:

Thanks for the link Ziggy. Haven't visited Jango for a while.

Don't get me started on the Doors. I've got everything they've done from studio albums to the rare live bootlegs and everything in between. It's hard to find fault in anything they did I think.

Other than Jim dying early of course. That wasn't his best move.

:ntwrth::ntwrth: I bow to your collection..... Oh my gosh Axl... I too thought they were brilliant.. I still have my old vinyl & some CDs... Jim Dying was one of those moments in pop history, equal to Buddy Holly, Janis Joplin & Lennon to me...

Blimey, check your links & don't post in the middle of the night with a bottle of Captain Morgan Zig :dh:

Riders on the storm came up, what I was trying to post was this.

    [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNNo9jyxnJw&NR=1&feature=fvwp"]YouTube - The Doors - Light my Fire/Graveyard Poem[/nomedia]

With the graveyard poem in the middle of it. Memories of being in the town cemetary at the top of The Mount in Guildford in the middle of the night & then watching the planes taking off from Heathrow from the field on the other side of the hill, in the frost with a group of good friends.

Slowly, one by one the birds would start to sing as the dawns light filled the air and the sun would rise over London.

Ziggy, just to jog the grey matter, the view over guildford at night:

and this one is the view from our front door, Heathrow is the glow in the distance and something you maybe never saw, the new Wembley Stadium arch (to the right on the horizon) - lit up whenever theres a match, it's maybe 30 miles as the crow flies but quite clear from the Hogs Back.

This is a post I posted on another forum a couple of years ago in response to the mystery surrounding Jim's death. The Uncle I refer to has been gone a good few years now sadly and I wish my young ears had taken in everything.

He talked to Chas about Morrison and Hendrix like they were just about to walk in the door after a day's work.

This may come across as out of context without the preamble but it shouldn't be too hard to get the references.

'My Uncle was quite heavily into the scene back in the day. He was close friends with Chas Chandler. They grew up together, lived their lives around the music scene and finally bought a pair of mansions next door to each other on the cliff tops in Whitley Bay. When I was younger and before my Uncle died I'd visit regularly and be treated to music sessions in his music library, spliffs from his homegrown (much to my father's dismay) and stories about the 'good times'.

According to the pair of them undoubtedly Morrison was at the Circus when he got into trouble. He was removed (barely alive) from the Circus so as not to give the place untoward publicity and to protect the reputations of those left in there. He was taken back to the apartment where they tried to revive him with cold water but obviously were unsuccessful. Everyone but Pamela left, a doctor did visit, Morrison was dead and he is buried in Pere Lachaise.

Having Morrison die at the apartment suited a lot of people as it saved a lot of potential probing but more importantly left all fingers pointing at Pamela. She must have been in pieces anyway and somewhat responsible for exposing Morrison to Heroin and either way it made sense to leave her to deal with the fallout.

Chas was better placed to hear the truth from his connections than my Uncle so I guess the info came from him. It's the version which I believe, it makes more sense to me than the others although there are a couple of other versions of events that do make sense this is the version I always believed. The problem is that without hard evidence everything will always be hearsay. I bet there were thousands of people back then in the industry who 'knew' what exactly happened to Morrison but without Pamela being around to take a lie detector test I guess no one will really be able to say for sure? '

    Blimey Axl,

Almost straight from the horses mouth. Bit like not being able to die in the Houses of Parliament then.

It is a hell of a view, on a clear day you can see right across the london basin to the Chilterns.
