Accident

Was casually sitting outside as one does and there was this ungodly "thud" from the distance. I went up on deck and couldn't see anything so we power-marched up the lane and down the road to the crossroads (dirt) and there were vehicles and people everywhere and a car on it's side (driver's) against an orange/lemon tree.

The Police were there less than five minutes after us (in the middle of nowhere)? One of our neighbours appeared so we had a brief conversation about how fast they go and it was a straight stretch and only one car involved.

Think the driver was out of the vehicle as the Police asked where the driver was and this chap came along so don't think there were any injuries, thank goodness. The Police then left at a high rate of knots for some unknown reason ????

Such excitement in the middle of the orchards ... but at least we got some much-needed exercise!

 

I'm worn out just reading it!!

 

Unfortunately, Webmaster, didn't think of camera, thought of injuries having been involved in personal injury cases for many years, so ran up the lane and to the scene. Will take it up there tomorrow because the car may still be there.

We went from our gate here up the lane ...



... turned right at the horizon and to the white building on the very edge (orange processing plant) on the right and the accident was about 100 metres further along ...

 

Webmaster ... went by this morning for your benefit but sadly the vehicle had been removed. It would have made a good picture actually!

 

LoL, it never ceases to amaze me what people can do with a car on a straight stretch of road!! And then get out unhurt too!

Fortunately most of the accidents we see are wrecked cars and not wrecked people!

 

Hi Sarah. I agree with you. I worked in criminal/personal injury law in the States for ten years and, believe me, there were horrific accidents.

I can cope with blood and gore, as you obviously can ... you have to be around it to know it and it not bother you. Someone has to deal with it.
