Don't know if it is of any interest to anyone but the "cooling towers" at the former power station at Chapelcross are being demolished at 9am tomorrow morning & will be shown on their web
    site & tv .

Aha - we are thinking about finding somewhere to watch what is bound to be a spectacular demolition! Hope it goes ahead - not sure what is forecast tomorrow - but it's been pretty awful on and off all day today!

Maybe it's not the weekend to take my elderly Aunt down your way, then...... :D Think I'll stick to Hamilton town centre instead!

Its only about 10 miles if that from me,so guess we shall certainly be aware of its demise.

I drive past them every Friday night and again on a Saturday. They were a good marker as to were you were (about 2 hours from the boat )and were always known as "the 4 chimneys". I'll certainly miss them.

Am up bright and early (but maybe not bushy tailed) to go and see if we can watch the historic moment. If I manage to capture the ten seconds on film - never mind in my memory - I shall post here!

Watched the demolition on their website and, as you said, not a lot of noise.

Got caught by a LOT of traffic, so took the 'low road', and beginning to panic as time was creeping on, took the first exit where the towers were visible! Joined by a nice old English lady, and several other late-comers, we watched the towels tumble!

I did have my camera with me - but deciding to change the batteries, incase they ran out, forgot to zoom back in, thus the distant footage, to say the least. There was no warning - so I suppose I am lucky to have captured it atall - but you know that feeling of 'if only...'!

    Anyway - here we go:
