Yesterday the gardeners at Hidcote Garden spotted a Red Kite. The furthest north they have been sighted was Oxford last year.

Sorry Pal only just seen this thread, yes it is lovely to see the Red Kites are branching out.We have seen them round Oxford way when we have been travelling on the motorways at various times.Years ago we would have had to have driven all the way to mid Wales to see them but now thanks to reintroductions and sucessful breeding they are starting to migrate further afield:thmb:

We drove up to Fineshade woods the other week and was able to park the car before and watched about five circling round the fields and woods, such a great sight:)

Thanks for sharing the info with us.:)Haven't been to Hidcote for years though:D

A couple, separately, have been sighted this far down, very rare, let's hope they keep increasing their range.:thumb:

There are kites in the Dover area- one afternoon there was one flying over the nursery where I work, really low down too (about 30 ft) over our heads. It was absolutely fantastic to see so close, especially since until that moment I had no idea they were in the area. I've been told they are breeding close by, but I don't know whether thats true or not. Fantastic if it is though!

I've spotted an adult kite a few times now around stoke on trent. (Hanchurch to be precise near junction 15 M6)

A friend of mine lives in High Wycombe and they are flooded with 'em :)
