What do you think of this? [IMG]
A couple of builders in this neck of the woods are busy buying old properties and turning out this kind of thing...all in the same design and planting..The first one looked ok but now they are everywhere and they really do look tacky and twee.

Shame, in my books as I've always lived in old properties. First one in Bucks 300 years old, the last 400 ... the new property was the IoW and that was built in 1834!

We don't know an age on the Casadinho here but because it's classified as a "casa antique", an antique house, we only pay £7 a year property tax!

I like keeping things as they were. They may be modern on the inside but the outside must stay the same with all the faults.

Yeuk. i would hate that. My gripe is that in our village, Self build timber frame houses and bungalows have gone up at an alarming rate and the village, although not big by any means has twice as many houses as it had 5 yrs ago. These folk get a grant, build, live in them for 3yrs as the grant condition stipulates, then sell up for a vast profit and build another. It's a new tesco estate arriving in rural mountainside. :( (there's no smiley vomit) And it's who you know round here, especially in the planning dept. We moved to get away from that problem. still atleast they can't build next to me or behind me.

I'll have that one, Pal, except I'm not so keen it's directly on the road ... me being a country gal and all! [IMG]

It's obviously aimed at the non-discerning taste-challenged townies wanting a 'typical' country cottage. Unfortunately there's a lot of them about and there will be more and more of these blots on the landscape. :(
The only properties they build here are Identiflats.

:( That is such a shame Pal, was once a lovely place I bet, it is obvious the market they are aiming at...! Why on earth do they plant them in the same fashion as well? That is such a wierd idea.. Trouble is that is the fashion of today. Everything is done ready for them to just move into with no effort.. & carry on their busy life styles... That is how these builders make their money today I suppose.... [IMG] :(

Tacky and twee they might be but I'd readily swap any of them for my East London terraced house which is tatty and wee.

Got to say, I wouldn't call them a blott on the landscape - I'd swap my house for either of those any day!

 Nope sorry, they don't do anything for me... Very tacky & twee is a good description. They really are a choc box type house compared to a real & traditional cotswold home. I can see where the builders are coming from though, I bet they have no problem shifting them.... ;) :D

I love this one Pal.Mr Kandy and I always dreamed of owning a thatched cottage and I love that stonwork, though he prefers the Northampton stone. The cost of rethatching and insurance premiums put us off.

Marley, that last house has been on the market for several months now with an asking price just under a million...and it's sited on a hill just at the point where heavy goods vehicles change gear ,and the odd car has been known to get airborne there taking things too fast!!

(The gossip is that the two developers are,how shall I put it,very 'close' and love to express themselves in their designs... [IMG] )
