After watching some programmes on TV and now reading all this, I think that we will eat less meat than we already do, and I will be more careful what I do buy.

We have a Bernard Matthews not a 10-minute drive from our house and right after the recent scare, there was an article in the local newspaper saying "no, nothing wrong with our place, bla-bla and so on" but can we believe it?

Perhaps we should give all kinds of meat up for Lent? Would that make the producers treat the animals better, I doubt it.

Tis true BM, alot of sausages are made from all the left over **** thats why everyone should pay a bit more for good quality meats and just eat them less often. I am so fortunate to breed my own pigs for showing and eating and have my own hens for eggs and meat. After having home reared i would rather go without rather than eat supermarket meat of any kind!!! [IMG]

Hi Blondie, do you have a sausage making device. I would love one of these ! Just imagine all the wonderful flavours you could cram into your own sausages, with top quality pork of your own nuturing. Sounds wonderful [IMG] I must confess I love tesco finest pork and apple and chilli and licolnshire etc. lovely sausages and 90%+ pork.

    Mouth-watering [IMG]

We have a really good free-range butchers in the village. I thought it might be fun to get a little mincer and squeezer sausage maker. Not quite the same as having your own pick of ingredients. I have a wonderful picture painted in my head of your sausages, I can almost smell them too. You should have a website and sell them as speciality sausages. You could even do a 'banana sausage' :D [IMG] [IMG]

So what type of pigs do you have? Sounds like you are seriously into it if you are breeding them.
Also what type of chickens do you have?
