Well I stumbled into GC after deciding to tackle my garden head-on and with little knowledge or ability  I still have little knowledge or ability but have recieved some fantastic advice, and a good few laughs along the way!! :D
Might I add, that my favourite thread on GC, is not about gardening at all - it's the Computer Art thread [IMG]
But it's the members of GC who keep me returning [IMG] [IMG]

I came across GC whilst looking for guidance when I took on my first garden. It has been invaluable for advice. Such a friendly site - and you can learn about much more than gardening [IMG] My Photoshop skills have improved no end ;)

Fancy - we fixed the problem by putting in the fences - and you should see the foxes round here - so fat and glossy they couldn't eat another one.....

I had NO IDEA what a forum was until jjordie told me about this one! Like her, i joined with misgivings as I wasn't sure....! At the time we were a just over 600 members!! (as you can see from our membership numbers)

Then we were increasing and there was a call for more forums so Nathan asked for volunteer to be a moderator. I nearly took his arm off! Then I turned round and said "What's a moderator?"!!

Some months after that we had a really bad attack of trolls one weekend and Nathan upgraded me to admin so I could be more proactive should such a thing a thing ever happen again.

I now have 22 memberships of fora though only about seven of them are really used a lot. But GC has always been my primary one because I owe Nathan such a lot. Y'see, without his early trust I wouldn't now be a supervisor on another forum of some size and having to deal with reports on obnoxious flamers and trolls at the rate of around 20-30 a week!! Yup I really owe GC a lot .... ho hum! ...

I stumbled across this forum looking for help and advice..... initially I registered, but didn't take part for a few months. Then the garden project took off and I have been here ever since.

I also like the fact that we are not judged by our appearances, age, gender, persuasion, etc.... we can remain anonymous and that there isn't any threat to our privicy, whilst making loads of genuine friends with people who have genuine interests in what we like. [IMG]

I agree with all of the above, it is a friendly, lively, informative site which welcomes everyone. I joined an American based gardening forum a few years ago and it was very clique led. Not so here. Ii is refreshing to " talk " to so many like minded people. David.

I was searching the internet for a good gardening forum and this one beats all the others hands down, regularly used and so clear in its layout with tonnes of info. Only drawback is theres so much info I'm constantly reading and learning and not posting! Brilliant site.

Found another good site but was based in America so most of the wildlife and shrubs we dont get here. [www.helpfulgardener.com]

Thanks everyone for some great info and advice

I too was looking for a useful gardening site. Registered to this one and another forum in the UK but no one responded on it and it just seemed spammers had left lots of sex adverts on it. This one on the other hand is used daily by lots of different people and I got help to my gardening questions virtually immediately. Again thanks everyone. [IMG]

this site is in fact a true little club,it has a family touch to it were we are all good friends who have a little fun and banter but we do have a serious side,in the winter months there is not a lot to talk about so we tend to have a little fun,its like any club,i was a member of a yacht club but we didnt allways talk about yachts we had fun and thats whats the GC is about
