I'm completely banned from any exercise whatsoever for at least a week - achilles tendon problem that the physio is taking VERY seriously......

So - I've got jigsaws, knitting, crochet, macrame, books, sudoku, and GC, of course! :D

So the question is - what else can I do to stop me getting too bored? Bearing in mind that I have to keep my foot up, and spend a lot of time lying on my tummy with an ice pack on the ankle, this could restrict the possibilities.......

So you are in the wars again Dendy, it's going to be hard doing nothing when you are usually so active. I hope it heals soon and make the most of any help you can get. [IMG]

I am sorry to hear that you are not well, Dendrobium. How to pass the time sitting down...as you will use your eyes a lot for close-by activities, don't overdo it!
Grab the calendar and the pen and do some planning (maybe plan with close eyes and then you write down...),
you can speak on the telephone,
you can go through the yellow pages and make some calls that you never find the time to do...,
you can tidy up your sewing bag (mine would keep you busy for a few hours...)
    or your photographs,
you can do some sketching or painting,
    puzzles,
try on some new make up (if you make up, that is...),
    mix some cake dough...

I hope that you will get well soon (mind, your finger was not right either...)

Golly - where to start? That'll keep me occupied, for sure!

Marge - I'm sure I'll watch a few DVDs - not something do much of normally, not even the one I was given for my birthday not long ago...
As for how I did it - well, I don't think it was any one thing. I've been having problems all through the summer with tightness in both ankles every morning, which eased up after hobbling about for a bit, but the main problem started a couple of months ago, when I was out walking Bella, and I ahd to walk for an hour to get back to the car. That weekend I was in agony, with a balloon at the back of my ankle. That's when I realised it was an achilles problem. It went away after a rest and came back on Sunday, again out walking the dogs, and was in pain all the way back, again, an hour's worth of walking...... So, lesson learned - I need to take it seriously and get it fixed.

Strongy - I certainly will take advantage of all help available - I really can't risk the thing rupturing. It's currently swollen like a balloon, so the first step is to get the swelling reduced. So a week strapped up, and icepacks as often as I can stand it. Lovely!

Macleaf - I couldn't possibly deprive Windy and Gogs! :D Peeling grapes is one of the few things I can probably still manage to do for myself!

Miraflores - that's a great list! I haven't got a sewing box, but other than that, I'll have a shot at most of those things - very practical. The finger is now ok again - a month after the mandolin incident....

Wildflower, I did start a blog a while ago, when I was in Hemel and waiting to move to Falkirk, but it was purely private. It wasn't anything that would keep me busy. I'd have to think of something that got my interest and would be interesting to other people. Any suggestions? Nobody would be interested in the day-to-day stuff of gardening...... and I'm not all that active in bluegrass these days...

Thanks everyone! You've cheered me up! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sorry you're laid up Dendy. I hadn't realised until just now.
The only thing I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned is to start jotting down memorable/amusing incidents from your life so that when you reach your dotage you can use the notes for a biography. You've bound to have a few "howlers" from your teaching career.

Please excuse Jimmy from PE as he has diarrhoea through a hole in his shoe.

    "Please Miss I don't have a rubber."
    "Use the boy's behind."

    Hope you mend soon.

    If you like Poker ....

Download from www.partypoker.com , It's free to download and play, but it can get a bit addictive [IMG] (Note, I haven't ever paid to play, as I do not see that on line card gambling is a good thing).

I play on there quite a bit.
