I may need Paladin to the rescue here......

Tried to get a replacement door for my oven today (yes I really did break it) and they want £110.99 plus VAT just for a bit of glass, I only paid about £200 for the whole oven.

Anyone got any cheaper suggestions before Mr Waco does his WALNUT!

errr do you mean - let him smell how delicious my cooking is and then temp him??? ouuu errr

I can't believe how easily it smashed, I just shut it hard, I know I am a tough nut, but I was not that forceful, anyway luckily it was safety glass.

Oven only two years old and a new one is about £650, I have a feeling he will come up with something "Creative" when HE knows cost of a new one

    AND

don't forget - he drove me to it!

    THANKS Pal

Only two years old? Those glass panels are supposed to last years! Must have been flawed!

Did you only have a 12 month warranty? For these items I'd always stretch to an extended warranty if I possibly could - they're good value.

My glass door on my hob went like that too and yes they cost a fortune to replace so we got a new cooker.. :D I think the pin holding the door on gets weak and then one day its just had enough..

Get down to your local recycling depot and see if there are any scrap ovens of a similar make. Chances are, even if the door is different the glass panel will be the same size.

Other thought, maybe your household insurance will cover it?

frogesque - you are brilliant! How many times have I told people to ask if there instruments are covered on insurance - we actually claimed when our toilet was broken, building insurance paid up without question.

We do not insure contents (we have this thing about insurance and yes we have other means of cover) but think as oven is fitted it could come under "buildings" worth a try anyway.

now as to recycling, you have touched a nerve here I am afraid. we used to get everything from our local tip, Martin used to go with a shopping list - I jest not! NOW it is all recycling, but should be termed "Unrecycling" as we no longer able to take anything away from the tip. MADNESS!

Froguesque beat me to it waco i was going to suggest your household insurance, funny though, we have never claimed for anything because it has only been small things that have broken and it has not been worth it to pay about £50 first, and all those payments we've been making to thoughout the years, makes you spit doesn't it.
