Actually, pete, this beach is never crowded as it's so long, more towards A de P and Salgados yes but here no, which is why we like it ... with just one beach bar/restaurant!

No, I'm not keen on those apartments, me being a country girl and liking ramshackle type cottages! Surprisingly they weren't very expensive for such a location (£100,000 new).

Your Thevetias (my Mystery Trees) are really going great guns Strongy! Hope that they continue to do so. We kept one, it is out in the Wintergarten, but it is not doing anything at the mo as it is too cold. Perhaps in the spring or when it gets back outside after all chance of frost is over, after mid May.

After a lovely lunch with three handsome younger men (how lucky can one girl get on Valentine's Day) we went to see our friend's house he is renovating / building more like it, and had this lovely walk in 20 degree weather, blue skies and sunshine (yes, I know I'm rubbing it in) to get to it ...

This is where we parked. This is Oxalis which has naturalised all over Algarve and is quite a nuisance albeit pretty ...

How about this lovely pathway ...

With these fantastic trees (which I plan to paint)

We did a duo trip today, up through the Serra da Monchique and across to the west coast.

I'll start off with the beautiful, heady smelling Acacia mearnsii (Black Wattle) which are going into full bloom now ...

And here was a nice trio of trees, left to right, Phoenix canariensis (Canary Palm), Ficus Elastica (Indian Rubber Tree) and Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange Tree) ...

Then we found this lovely little picnic areas under the Eucalyptus globulus (Blue Gum Tree) ...

We stumbled across this lovely old windmill ...

and I stood under these Wind Turbines and they just made a whooshing sound ... can't see why people complain about them ...

I'll continue with the journey in another posting.

    The journey continues ...

We went to Cabo Sao Vincento (Cape St Vincent) the most westerly point in Europe (it was VERY breezy standing on this cliff edge) ...

The lighthouse at the Cape ...

Looking toward Sagres from the Cape ...

A lovely little pousada / restaurant between Sagres and the Cape ...

The world renowned School of Navigation at Sagres, founded by Prince Henry the Navigator (1394-1460) ...

... and just some beautiful waves on a beautiful day ...

Lovely pictures, LoL, particularly the second last one, with the gorgeous cloud patterns. Will we see that in LoL's leisure soon? Hope so! The cliffs are almost Australian in colour.....

Think you're converting most of us into moving to Portugal! :D

    Muitas obrigandinhas, meus amigominhos.

Well, roders and Kandy, I'm sure you both would have loved it.

Dendro, the cloud formations were just incredible today and I have separate photos of them. All the cliffs in Algarve are red, as is our soil ... horror as far as washing and cleaning goes!

Our sky is invariably intensively blue ... you can tell by the photos when I was photographing into the sun and away from it .. and this is clever clogs me!

Thank you for your lovely words, lukus, you must have some beautiful scenes to show to us as well ... tchau (pronouced the same as your ciao .. chow!)

Now, pete, I've told you this before but you just don't listen to me ... it's ALWAYS CROWDED HERE, something to do with tourists and it IS half term this week ... that's why I have all these "busy" photographs! [IMG]
