    Hello forum.

This is my frist post and first attempt at growing anything.

Myself and my girlfriend have decided to grow some indoor veg and herbs. We went for a bunch herbs, like flat leaf parsley, coriander, dill and mint. We have also planted chillies and courgettes.

All the plants are doing very well, except recently our courgettes. We have 6 plants and on 2 of them the lower leaves have started to develop blackish dry spots that feel papery to the touch. It started with one plant then a week later another plant has developed the same symptoms, though not as severe. I've searched around and the closest explanation I can find is that it is blight, but I want to be sure because some of the descriptions and pictures I've seen don't match up 100%.

I've included pictures of the leaves in questions in the hope that someone can confirm what the issue is and how to clear the problem and prevent it in the future. I would very grateful if someone could shed some more light on this.

I don't want to lose my babies:(.

Hello Mohfro and welcome to the forum :thumb:

You don't say where you are or if you have the plants inside or out.

I would say it's likely to be cold/frost damage. Up till last week it's been too cold for courgettes to be outside. I reckon your plants will grow quickly away from this, it the new foliage looking fresh and green with no spots? If so then don't worry.

With me I'd still wait a couple of weeks before planting my courgettes in their final position. Mine are outside but protected by a cloche.

    Thanks John,

We're growing them in side in a large pots, since we live in a flat we don't have a garden. We keep then on the window sill where they get a lot of warm sunshine. We're situated in Scotland and yes the new foliage is coming through green and fresh.

But I hope from what you have said it's only cold damage.

I wish you luck with growing courgettes inside, it's not something I've ever tried - it will be interesting to hear how you get on. I don't want to worry you but depending on the variety they can grow very big. Hopefully you have a compact 'patio' variety.

Bearing in mind the plants are on a window sill, Im wondering if it could be scorch, the sun is pretty strong through glass at this time of the year.
