    Hi

I'm a student in Edinburgh moving into a new (ground floor) flat in August, and for the first time I will have access to a private garden. The area is entirely paved and west-facing. I was hoping someone would be able to recommend some plants suitable for large pots which I could use to inject some life into the area. I would also be keen to grow my own herbs. My budget is quite limited and everything must be able to survive a Scottish winter but I don't mind putting the effort in!

    Thanks.

    Hi Mike89,

I wrote an article a while back, that talked about some of the things I do in my garden that makes it work for me. Most things you can create yourself if you get a bit resourceful. What I have also found is that if you speak to people locally eg at allotments or family and friends you can often get plants for free (as people often overplant) The link to my article is http://www.articlesnatch.com/Articl...y-With-Home-Improvement-In-The-Garden/1196779
