My sister is a nurse, and as bad as things got she always laughed. You have a good sense of humour paladin - don't forget it, its amazing what a smile can do when all about you is falling appart!

This must be the happiest house in the country... my boy(24) is on top of the World. He is so pleased with the result of his op that he actually kissed me when I got home from work tonight and thanked me for keeping his pecker up by acting the prat all week  Not hard at all really :D
And your messages were a lovely tonic for us all.

My nephew had a major op a few years back. The surgeon told him and his mother it would take him about 2½-3 hours. He was in theatre for 5½ hours but what the surgeon neglected to tell them was that about 1 hour of that was for the anaesthetic and another 1-1½ hours he was in recovery!! Scared the bejeebers out of his mum until I explained it! (Your son still had a long op, though!!!! Glad he's doing okay.)

PS my day's been rubbish (was going to say something else but can't set a bad example!)

My new shed is racking up costs though these are still well below par as my nephew (mentioned above!) is doing it for me. Still I was naive enough to think the £300 I paid for it was a good deal until the cost of skips, cement, flooring, etc., etc. is added! Just wasn't prepared for all that.

Then my knee (awaiting a replacment [IMG]) has been playing up and now I actually have to PAY a guy to come and do my garden - oooh that hurts more than my knee!!

Sorry I missed all this, Nick - best wishes to all, son and parents alike - it's horrible to have to go through things like this. Glad he's on the road to recovery now. Worst I've had to deal with is a couple of hours - 5 hours.... far too much.
