We had notification from the Post Office that because postpersons could see no house number mail could not be delivered  On our right is house No2,on our left is house No4...Wouldn't you assume ours in between both is No3 ??
When I spoke to someone about it they said rules is rules ..and carved in stone!
So I thought I'd play 'em at their own game....

Dag ,funny you should say that because junkmail was pushed through the letter box anyway, because it was addressed to "The Occupier"
Expect they get paid by the letter box  :D

Our "Postie" is a real star. If he has a package that can't fit the letter box, he drops a note through saying 'package in greenhouse'. If it's a 'signed for' package he'll sign for it himself and leave it. And when Mrs W was still working in the village school he'd often drop our mail there.

A man ruled by common sense not senseless rules

We have a great postie, if the item is too big he just leaves it on the doorstep and rings the bell.

That makes me so mad when they do that!!! [IMG]or when they ring the bell and leave immediately before you've even risen off the chair to go and answer.

You must live in a really good neighbourhood, then! I had stuff nicked off the doorstep in my previous place when it was left by the postman or a courier.

Happily this place is much better and my neigbours always take it in. We've also got a great postie. Very reliable. Worth his weight in gold!

Our postie is great. Like Dave's, he will put it in the greenhouse. If we have any letters to post all we have to do is put them in the letter box - sticking out on the outside - and he will post them for us. All his predecessors used to do the same.

When we first moved to the village 34 years ago our postman had a key for our 96 year old neighbour's house and used to go in and do her breakfast for her. He also used to pass messages around the village. When he retired, at the age of 84, the village threw a big party for him.

NOTE - Postage rates are changing in August and it will then not only be the weight of a letter but it's dimensions that will determine the cost. If it is A4 size it will cost more than A5 size. So fold it and put it in a smaller envelope.
