We have decided to look into putting a bedroom in the loft with a dormer, but have absolutely no idea how much it costs!! Has anyone had one done, was it worth it, and roughly how much did it cost?? £10k, £20k???? We hava a pretty average semi....

    Thanks [IMG]

in order to make this a proper conversion with plannin permission you need to have some rigid stairway ...... for fire regs and decent drawings

We paid just over 10k about 10 years ago, this was a bit over the odds at the time (but we did have the whole roof retiled at the same time).
We ended up with quite an odd shaped room with proper staircase in our 1920,s semi. but it was well worth it.
Fire regs get quite strict when you go to three stories, fire doors throughout the house, linked smoke alarms etc.
Get a few estimates, & take it from there.
