Have you seen it this dry, this early before, I know its likely to turn into a wet spell at any time but up to now it has been really dry around here.
Whats it like in your part of the world?

Yeah, know what you mean, but I dont worry about the grass, I let that get on with it.
Should point out thats not my garden in the picture, its the local park, just to point out how dry it is. :D

Saw in the local press here that coucils were spreading crushed rock on the roads because the tarmac is melting and sticking to the tyres.

Also I registered 120F (sorry still in the dark ages!!) on my outside conservatory window on Wednesday.

Incredibly dry here Pete, my own garden is on sandy soil so will shortly be resembling the Sahara unless I water every night. The gardens I work in that have clay soil are very hard to dig, at the mo' (unlike my own which is like dust despite having loads of muck dug in & regular water), even a "good" rain runs straight thruohg & only a couple of centimetres remain wet (& not for long) However I must say I LOVE the hot weather despite it's challenges & would rather it be like this than the grey miserable summers we usually get

Couldn't agree more Bayleaf, Most of the plants I grow tend to like this sort of weather once established, but I bet the woodland plant growers and the alpine people arn't too keen on the high temps.
Still we get more of their type of weather on the whole, so now its our turn. [IMG]

Very dry here also Pete can't remember when we had rain. I have to water every day or plants would wilt. Sheltered garden, I don't think the temperature has ever been so high for so long.

My sentiments exactly - but we could do with some. Some of the trees in my area are looking a little scorched - and the fields are very dry.

Top part of my garden is exposed with no shade or windbreak and the grass is like hay stubble!
Just topped up both ponds again, that's three times since Sat.(Glad I'm not on a meter)
Sky clear and sunny now. No rain here since?..well can't remember. As you say, sure to rain at the weekend.

What a pessimist [IMG] We are going to have a glorious autumn, and a wet mild winter followed by an early wet spring and a blazer of a summer. Well I can hope can't I ;)
