    Hi

I have two young female cats that i didnt manage to get neutered before the local bad ass tom cat got to them. They are defo both going to have babies but my question is, how long after they give birth can i leave them before the op? I dont really mind that they will get to have one litter each as i can find homes for a few kittens but i dont really want it to happen again. They are outside cats so i might not manage to get hold of them immediately. Is this a problem and how soon will they come back into season? Thanks for any advice.

You can spey them at around 6weeks after the kittens are born- when they stop suckling really and can eat fully on their own.

The queens can get pregnant again during this period- they often start calling again a couple of weeks after they give birth- but they will only be in the very early stages of pregnancy so it will be ok to spey them anyway.

If you speak to your local cats protection league they can often provide you with neutering vouchers that will give you £10-15 or so off each cat.

Thanks for the advice. I will give the cats protection league a call tomorrow.
