Peppers, cucumbers & courgettes

:confused: Hi Everyone, I've done a real daft thing. Planted chilli seeds, peppers, cucumbers & courgettes, forgot to put labels in. Now I don't know which are chillis and which are peppers, cucumbers or cougettes. Can anyone please tell me how to tell which is which please

 

peppers have a quite elongated leaves when they sprout and they are quite fragile compaired to cucumbers and courgettes .(i would imagine that chilli would be something similar to peppers)
I seem to remember that both cucumber and courgettes have oval shaped leaves and quite sturdy.
Of course you can always hope that the seed shell is carried outside by the little plant so you can recognize it easily.

 

I have done the same thing as you Gloria but with chillies and peppers ,they are all coming up so it will be a lucky dip!

 

The stems on your cucumbers and courgettes will be hairy and slightly floppy.
Chillies and peppers look pretty much the same until they start to mature when the leaves on the peppers will be slightly larger.

 

As with you, also here we need a bit of luck.
In my case i hope that my two lively daughters, if they really have to dismantle the pots, pick up the "right" ones...
Which unfortunately is not always the case...

 

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well. What I meant was I can't tell the difference between cucumber and courgette plants.
and chilli and pepper plants.

There's very little difference in either case at the seedling stage Gloria. You'll be hard pressed to spot any difference. At an inch or two high your cucs may look a bit 'leggier' than your courgettes, but with the peppers it's very difficult at the early stages.
Hedge your bets and plant a few of each and when you can spot a difference weed out what you don't want.

And next year remember to label them

 

The courgettes will grow short and stubby, but the cue will extend away from the pot. It will then have wispy tendrils. Unless you're growing a bush cue?. Cant help you with chilli's, son't grow them myself.
