I've decided to put bubble plastic up after all! but this new one I've bought "ends" in the middle of a pain of glass so I can't use the fixers, I've tried cellotaping the ends together but they just fall apart  so does anyone know what I can use?

[IMG] Just go & get some clips for this pupose that fit into the grooves between the panes of glass in the framework & overlap each row of bubble wrap. That way I find I can cover the whole lot. The clips slide up & down in the grooves for easy fixing. I think my overlaps are about 4", that way I get even spacing of the clips & straight rows.... ;) :D Hope that helps... ;)

That is assuming you have grooves. The roof of mine hasn't and I have used brown parcel tape rolled back on itself to make it double sided and stuck the bubblewrap and the glass. I also ran it down the overlaps on the roof part. It may not look too pretty but it is still sticking and showing no sign of giving up.

I've read you powst twice and can't see the problem. Why not just overlap the joins so you can use your ordinary clips?

[IMG] That of course is very true Rich. Sorry. You have been pretty ingenius there I think. The only other thing I could come up with would be wires strung across where the overlaps are & fix with plastic sprung clothes pegs... :D :D Again not pretty but does work.. Last resort, the Stapler..... :D :D :D

Ok I don't think I've explained it properly! greenhouse length is 3m & bubble plastic is 1.5m which means two pieces of bubble plastic side by side, its the join in the centre thats the problem as they "join" half way between the glass frame so I can't fit any fixings & also I cannot over lap them as it would leave me with a gap on one end

[IMG] So try using the fixings either side of pane of glass & use clothes pegs to hold them together in the middle, or as I said staple the ends together. Although I think I would just use extra bubble wrap with bigger overlaps. Okay you will use more but, if that is what it takes then..... I buy my bubble wrap by the roll from the garden centre, much cheaper that way & you don't have the join problems then..If this is wrong then not sure what you are saying. Post a pic..... :D

What about a dab of silicone behind the wrap on to the glass [IMG]

hello everyone, we insulated our green house last month with bubblewrap.looked around first to compare prices and settled on travis perkins.focus was priced at nearly £14.00 for 30 meters.travis perkins was £22.00 for 100 meters so a big difference.husband does get small discount as hes a regular customer, hes a -dare i say it- block paver(i get loads of free plants from other peoples gardens)anyway,we started at the bottom and wrapped it horizontally all the way round and worked our way up.found it saved lots of cutting and used less clips aswell.

There is a commercial fixing tape used to join polythene for tunnels, I beleive this would do the job for you.
I would enquire at any good garden centre, they may not stock it but may be able to get it for you.

    Good luck.

Yes, it's sold as 'tunnel tape' or 'all weather tape' amonst other things. I think i've seen it in B&Q, it's usually clear with a green tint, expect to pay £5 to £10 a 4 inch wide roll. So long as the polythene is dry & dust free then it makes a very strong join.
