Banana plant query

    i have a banana plant that has got through the winter and has started growing new leaves and also new shoots round the base do i keep the new shoots round the base on or shall i cut them off,so that the plant can put its energy into the main leaves?, thank you for your help

    you can take them off where they join the plant at soil level and you will prob find they have some roots attached and so pot em up for new plants..I do this and keep some back ups in case the big one pops its clogs [​IMG] but I also leave a good few of the offsets around the main plant as I like to see it as a group

    Taking them off will put all its energy into a main shoot for a small while but the type that offsets freely will always be producing more and it should grow away faster anyway with hopefully some sunny weather
