Well I decided to move the gas and electricity meters in the kitchen today, I buillt and extension and it left them slap bang in the middle of the new room. What a bloody job, the hole was huge, about 5 feet deep and 6 feet in diameter and rock hard with brick ends, platic bags etc, oh joy lol. The wife will be pleased, now we can get the electricians and plumbers in (once we saved up enough. But its all progress!

    I'm happy for you Georgebean.
Long time ago we bought a house in a lovely location with a huge garden - but both the house and garden needed everything doing.
We got on with the work and sorted it out as we had time and money to do it.
We enjoyed every little job as it gone done and had many happy years there.
Enjoy your work, your success and your years there.
I'm sure your wife will be delighted with the progress.

For some reason I thought that you were not allowed to move such meters, I thought the gas and electric companies had to do the job.

The combined cost to move them was £1100, and it was only a few feet :-)

The extensions a big project for me on my own,

It starts on the front, I extended the lounge and kitchen, had to demolish the whole front and cut a new hip into the roof.

It carries on down the side to the water tub, I got an exta 4 ft on the bathroom and room for a seperate wc, kitchen went from 7x7ft to about 22ft square (ish) so its worth it.

I built a garage as a workshop too.

This is why I have no time, money or energy lol.

There's not a lot you're allowed to do as far as any electrics go, "beyond putting on a new three pin plug."
If you want to move a socket, that's a no-no unless you're a qualified electrician or the work was done before 1st Jan 2005. As was of course "all my electical work."
Even stuff I've not yet done.
