This potato is a first early!! For the last five years I've planted various first earlies with the hopes of getting nice little marble-sized potatoes to scrape and enjoy but I keep getting things like this!! WHAT am I doing wrong! (Apart from obviously leaving them too long) I think this is a Maris Piper or similar. Anybody got any (useful) comments!?

[IMG] I know it's not a useful comment but it is a good looking spud. [IMG] Why is it we are so good at growing things we are not to bothered by & yet the things we somtimes want seem so near & yet so far away...?????

    What a CORKER....
Have you tried Arran Pilot or Foremost? The Arran Pilot tends to produce the smaller sized spuds, but I got mine out of the ground some time back, about 6 weeks ago.

Pete, you could be right. I don't really know what it is as when I got it home, I found I'd picked up a bag without a label. All I know is that it came out of a bin marked "first earlies".
I tried Arron Pilot the first year I was here and that produced woppers too. Must be in the soil!!!!

Not sure what I'll do with it yet -baked would take a bit of eating, don't you think?!! A friend said it would be good for chips ... !

Tragedy! Finally got around to using this tater only to find it has a big cavity in the middle! It was clean and dry and a little bit powdery looking so I didn't use it. Any suggestions what it was and could I have eaten it anyway?

    I'm so disappointed! [IMG]
