Eradication of Horseradish plants

Three years ago we fancied having horseradish sauce made sraight from the root of the plant. We acquired a plant and then found the result was too strong. I've tried digging it out but no matter how carefuuly this is done it re-grows. Is there any sure fire way of killing off this persistent plant?

I've never grown this plant but at a guess, unless you want to use poison, just keep chopping it of at ground level as soon as new shoots appear until it finally gives up.
Maybe someone else has more experience of horseradish who could give more specific advice.

While I don't have any specific experience of Horseradish, Blackthorn is right about keeping on top of it. Any vigorous perrennial weed that can regrow from a fragment of root can be really hard to conquer. Every day that goes by with green growth above ground is adding strength and building root systems. You have to be fanatically remove all green immediately that it appears. If you can keep it up, after a while it will give up. But if you let it have its way the battle will never end. Show it who's boss!
