i've just started trying to get to terms with a neglected garden,in the main flower bed there is a bush that i think may be juniper, it stinks to high heaven, is appearing all over the place, sending up miniature bits of itself, does anyone know what it is and how can i get rid of it? its even made its way under the lawn and is appearing in another bed!

    Sandie,

Do you have a picture of it, if you can't post a pic on here, send it to me and I will host it for you.

I know exactly the one you mean, but I don't know what it is. Why anyone in their right mind would plant something that smells like that is a mystery to me [IMG]

A pic of your plant would help i.d. and/or a thorough description Sandie.
Salvia sclarea smells like cats wee. & apparently female Gingko trees with fruit smell like dogs faeces. I think the foliage of Choisya has to be one of the most revolting smells out there too. Not all in the garden smells of roses ;)

I like the smell of choisya but think osteospermums, pelogoniums and tomato plant smell foul, geranium macrorhizome smell like cat pee too but at least it has nice flowers.

thanks everyone for replies, i havent got a pic i'm afraid, it is very like creeping juniper, though the leaves are bright green, not grey-green, and the smell is strong when you clip it, yuk!
