    I don't know..... if you stick to the basic idea, of looking to see if there's fresh growth in the centre, and if there is, go for it, and if there isn't be prepared for it not to work, and take cuttings...... Seems reasonable to me! :D

    My experience with Hebes is that the smaller growing ones tend not to respond to pruning apart from thinning out but the larger leafy ones (up to 6 ft.) can be pruned without trouble although the appropriate time to prune is a bit of a mystery.
    Hope we can reach agreement soon....................
