Hi all, yet another unknown plant. the photo below is a bit deceptive. The flowers them selves are about 2 cm across. The wood of the plant is almost snke like in its appearance as its so peeling . The flowers have come out in the last week or so.

[IMG] Looks a bit like Escallonia to me. Could be "peach blossom"...

Is it evergreen? Thinking about it, there was a hedge of escallonia on the way to the beach at Kilve in Somerset, and the scent always reminded me of hot jam!

Don't know what it is, but it isn't a Kolkwitzia judging from the flowers. Nice though!

I took these today, first one's Weigela, second is Kolwitzia

    This is a similar escallonia:

Escallonia has a distinct smell, and glossy toothed leaves which snap rather than bend. I suggested the Kolwitzia because it has the peeling bark that Lazy G mentioned. When the flowers drop the seedheads are different from the Weigela. Hope some of this will help!

Hi lazy-gardener, Almost positive its a form of escallonia.
It is for sure if the leaves have an ever so slightly sticky suface.
Try pulling a leaf off, press it between thumb and forefinger. Does it stick to your thumb or forefinger
