    [IMG] Hi all
After last summers drought I want to recycle the bath waste water during the summer. Any ideas on how to divert the water with a switch to save getting on the roof and changing the pipework each time I don't need to divert [IMG]

Nice one roders ,I was going to suggest a very small pond pump, but yours is a much better and safer option.

I have one of these on my downpipe from my house roof :-

    Also available in Black

Available from Screwfix for £5.99 , very quick and easy to install. Works on both square and round downpipes.

The rain diverter allows the water butt to fill to capacity, then when it reaches the set limit (where the rain diverter enters the butt), it will not fill anymore, and the rest of the water follows the course down the downpipe and to the sewer.

The only thing you will probably need, is lots of water butts. I have 2 water butts linked, which are filled by a 16x8 flat garden shed roof ..... And they do fill up fast.

Water recycling is something that makes me [IMG] and [IMG] as it seems there is no way I can get it into place. The back of my house is already criss-crossed with ugly black drain pipes and the only place to have a water butt from existing pipes seems to be right in the middle of the access to the garden about 4 feet from the back door! Either that or have yet more drainpipes installed.

What I wouldn't give for a clever person who could come and tell me the answer to my frustration!!

    Hi michaelmasdaisy
You could try moving house, that will get rid of the pipes. [IMG]

The Natural Collection link from Keith might do the job for you. Linked to a soaker hose no need for a water butt. [IMG]

I managed to fill 3 large water butts last year diverting water from my conservatory roof. I would appreciate any help on how to stop the water smelling awful. I tried dropping lumps of charcoal in which worked for a little while, but there is still a nasty niff in high temps.
As for buying water butts - forget it. I drove round a nearby industrial estate and found a company ditching 200litre blue plastic barrels. Being a soap manufactures, their contents were easily washed awy. The company were only too happy for me to take them off their hands.

I have since found out the maccy d's discard the same size containers, which they previously buy orange juice concentrate in.

    Happy hunting.
