chusan palm

    Hi can anyone tell me when the best time to plant a chusan palm in the ground thank you

    HI Das and Debs.
    Chusan palm (trachycarpus fortunie)very hardy will grow in most soils but does not like sitting in the wet.Sun or partial shade.Originates from China.It grows in Scotland.
    Can be planted now.Oh keep it out of strong winds as it makes the leaves look tatty.

    I'd do it in the spring if you haven't got one yet as this passes the buck for keeping it alive over winter to the nursery. If you have got one in a pot I'd do the same if you can keep it somewhere sheltered, otherwise they are fully hardy so will most likely only get a bit ragged before growth starts again.

    Thanx dendrobium ill have a look now.I whent to the garden centre today and saw a plant with massive leaves.It was probably about 3ft high covered about 5fr floor space.Have you any idea what it could be called?thanx mate.
